New base station

Post by MIDNIGHT EAGLE »

Well I went ahead and ordered me a new base station from GALAXY it is the DX2547 40 channel. I cant Wait till it gets here to get it up and talking. And no it has not been peaked or tuned for maximum dx/rx. I hope to be getting me a good meter to see what the real power is right from the factory, so I will know what I may or may not need to do to it. hope this will be a good radio as this is going to be the last one I get for a while, DUE TO THE WIFE GOING TO COLLAGE! If there's any one out there that has one of these please let me know what I might need to do to it to get the maximum performance out of this radio.

The most important part of the base station is getting yourself a good, full sized base antenna, whether its a 1/2 or 5/8 or whatever, and getting it up in the air with some good coax. Everything else with the radio will be smaller improvements.

Hope to hear ya up here in skipland when you get that big radio up and running!! 8)
Channel 32, or sometimes 33 and or 34......

I have one and its a good radio for the price. Needs to be peaked and aligned though. Get a good base power mike for it too.

And a good 5/8 wave base antenna and quality coax. And ground it well.

Have fun.
