I just ordered (BC898T) one and I don't know much about Scanners but always wanted one.

I was just wondering if this unit is any good, I could not pass on the price.

Thanks

It's a good scanner. It doesn't display any alpha tags (names associated with talk group IDs or frequencies), but you can get software that will show alpha tags on your PC. It also doesn't do P25 digital audio, but if you live in an area with no P25 systems then you won't miss it.

No. The scanner will do everything you want it to...except digital. And when I say digital, I mean digital audio. If you live in a rural area, more than likely the agencies there do not have a P25 digital system. Usually, only big cities have them and not all of them do. Where do you live?
