Wife contributes to radio fund!

Guys:

Had to share my good fortune. Well, as many of you know, I had finally purchased my Cobra 29 classic a few weeks back and I was sorely disappointed with it. I put it on Ebay and just decided to get a new radio. I knew I would have to save up money all over again. Anyway, my wife just came thru with $200 tonite to go to my new radio fund!!!! Man, I am one lucky guy! I see a new RCI 2950DX is my future real soon!!!!

OK good you have her headed in the right direction, Next after your new radio. one night tell her your going to talk on the radio and just after a few min. come back and plop down not saying a word. she will pause then ask what wrong then you pause then say everybody keeps covering me up when i try to talk. she will look at you funny, so you will explain an say if i had a amplifier i could talk. and don't forget to mention the bigger the amp the less i will bother you. He He! it works.

It certainly makes life a lot easier if the XYL gives support with the hobby, I am probably more fortunate than most, as my wife is also licensed, and has her own Icom 7400!....The downside is, she has made contacts further afield than I have, but I can live with that...So long as it doesn't happen too often :D

hey look, i am not downing on cobra 29's...they are legendary. i have owned 3 of them. however, i bought this one from a sponsor on here and i had been running a little PRO510xl. i used same antenna, same SWR's, same everything. well, the 29 had no ears! i couldnt hear half as much as with the little 510. I dont know what is was....but it was very disappointing. I finally just quit it and its in my closet now....I bought it new, had turbo echo and talkback installed, talked on it 4 days...and now it is collecting dust in the closet.

I would say send it back to who you bought it from and ask them to align the receive. I have had tons of old and new 29's and all have great ears when aligned properly. Maybe he just forgot to do it to yours.
