18 volt system - power supply for my MOBILE

Someone suggested that I get a 6v battery and run it parallel to my trucks 12v battery so I can I have an 18v hook-up for my amp which will make it crank out more watts. If I understand this install you have a battery cable going from the positive post on the 12v battery to the positive post on the 6v battery. Also, you run a battery cable from the negative post on the 12v battery to the negative post of the 6v battery. The only thing you connect to the positive post on the 6v battery (besides the line from the original 12v battery) is the power line to the amp.

This supposed to give you an 18v power supply for that kicker.

Is there any need for a battery isolator or some kind of "back-flow" fuse or what? Or is this complete bull-hockey and designed to blow-up amps?

Thanks -
