Just found this forum...lots of good information here. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the Browning Golden Eagle Mark IV and the Mark IV-A. Thanks!

I think the only differance is the upgraded eprom chip in the mark 4a.. the mark 4 models were known to blow this chip. I'm not positive but I think the power plug on the rear may have been upgraded also, other than that, same radio.
If it doesn't glow in the dark, its not a real radio!

Thanks for the reply...Also wondering what "upgrades" are available for this radio? Even though it is a 40 channel unit, was/is there a VFO available for the Mark IV-A? Thanks!

the ground jumper between the receiver and transmitter is no longer needed, something about a new freq synthzer, the channel selector goes all the way from 40 to 1 instead of stopping and having to go back, there is a 99 channel mod, also instead of it having the painted Golden eagle mark 4... they put a engraved plaque saying golden eagle mark 4A. if anything else i will try to look up in my owners book. i am a proud owner of a mark 4A
