Ideas with a tower

#150888

Post by bullet »

I saw a tower the other day at an old barn. I don't think it is being used any more due to it had no antenna of any kind.
The problem is it was about 60 to 80 feet tall and one set of guide wires broke and it is bent about 30 feet up. I would lose a section or two, but it would still be nice to have.I would think it is at a 75 degree angle above 30 feet. find out who it belongs to. That will be the hardest thing to do. Finding the owner to a barn in the middle of nowhere.
Any what if you have ideas please help me out. If it is not to hard I will find the owner.

Are you asking best scenario for taking that tower down?

Cut the guy wires, take a sawzall and cut 2 of the legs and pull it over, hehe.

If you want to slow down the process, tie ropes to the tower and pull in the opposite direction as it's falling. That will ease it to the ground. We've done tons of towers this way. You mess up the bottom section, but you can reuse the bottom section for the bottom section again and put it in concrete. You'll never know it is messed up.

I didn't know it that was the best way to take it down. I have a little jig to take them down if they are upright. I guess that is about the only way to do it. I just don't what to mess up the good sections.
That is a good Idea about the county. Well parishes here.LOL There is no address so I guess I can find the address on each side that is close.
Thanks I Will start checking into it.
I wish i had some of you guys close so we could help one another with projects like this. A few heads are better than one.

One idea for finding the owner of the barn/tower: ask around at the nearest farms to the barn. The neighbors will most likely know who the land belongs too.
