my base setup...
This is my current base setup. i know its all radioshack, but its the best i can do for now. i do plan on getting a Galaxy 959, astatic base mike and an amp. but, hey, this set up works pretty good already. its feeding my A99 on the tower. :D

A lot of us started out on walkie-talkies, mobile radios that doubled as our base, etc. Just remember that even the best radio won't perform well without a good antenna system. Getting a tower was a smart move. As long as your radio is doing what you want it to do I wouldn't worry about upgrading it right away. Instead, you may want to consider upgrading to a 5/8 wave antenna (the A99 is 1/2 wave) or maybe even a beam. Then, if you want think about upgrading your radio. Enjoy the hobby - it's a lot of fun!Ricky wrote:Thanks. just starting out. since december
