102 steel whip on a house makes a great lighting rod!
Will it work? Sure it will. Is there a better way? For sure. The one thing you have to remember is that any time the wind blows that antenna will bend with the wind and so your incoming signal will fade in and out just as your transmitting signal to others will. Do your self a favor and buy a Imax 2000 or Antron 99. Both less than a $100.00 and its a mount the antenna where you want it and forget about kinda thing.
