Base Scanner Antenna Coax

What would be the best type of coax to use for the scanner???

A. 50 ohms

B. 72 ohms

C. 75 ohms

so far ive been between 50 to 52 ohms but i think it should be 72 but i think i could be wrong, any help would be appreciated....Dj

I don't know what scanner you have, but the manual for my Pro2096 says to use 50 ohm cable when attaching an external antenna.

scanners are very forgiving in that department. i mostly just use the antenna that you put right on the back of the thing. they are useing vhf low out here where i live. might be different where your living uses trunking freqs. or digital or vhf high. old school out here in the rural area. the base scanners i have used the antenna is a regular cb coax style. then you just go to radio shack for the scanner end of the coax and get a adapter for the bnc conector. i used rg8x coax. worked just fine.

thanks for the info guys, i think im gonna upgrade to 75 ohms coax since i wont be using it to TX on but to RX on, i have 2 base scanners and a hand-held, but i was gonna put the one scanner in my bedroom on a discone antenna in the attic...Dj
