looks like you are missing the so-239 on back of the radio. and the power cord is not shown, do you have it or is it missing too? to hook up an antenna you will need to put the sp-239 on the radio in that middle hole i believe is where it goes. I have a radio like that but its in GA in storage or i would take a pic of it to show you.

I don't think that radio uses an SO239 connection. I think you need an SO239 to Motorola adapter. The PL259 on your coax threads onto the SO239 and the Motorola jack pushes into the lower hole in the picture above.

EDIT: Well, for some reason all the pics you had posted are now not being displayed. If you look at the pic you had posted of the back of the radio I'm talking about the lower hole in reference to how you have the radio positioned on it's side...

I have the same Johnson. As 4 Cycle says you need a PL259 to Motorola adapter. Here is a picture.

Not sure if one of the sponsors carries this part. Do an Internet search for "PL259 to Motorola Adapter". Should cost about $5.00

Junior: I don't know if this is the answer you are looking for, but it is the only one I can offer. I have the same radio you have except it has the PL-259 connector on the back. It came to me as "working when I took the Mic off of it" I will take $25.00 for it plus $12.00 UPS Ground shipping if you want it.

Bolo and others hit it right on the head. Get a motorola to SO239 connector like the one pictured. Thats all you need.

I have 2 Johnsons with connectors like that, the adaptors you can get a RS. They fit good and work well...

Ken's Electronics

Google it ;)

As for the antenna jack, remove the Motorola connector and install a SO-239 jack, it will be on less thing to fail.

That is a EF Johnson Messenger I (aka Whiteface)

CB Tricks has the schematics and service manual for it.
