i ran the wires from my battery to my radio and put a 10A fuse at the batt and have a 7A fuse at the radio. so i turned my radio on and the 10A fuse at the batt popped. so what do i need to do and what do u think caused that. thanks for the help
The fuse at the battery is based on max amp draw. I havent ever tested a radio to see what its amp draw is ( of course all radios are different ) but I am running 4 ga wire with an 80 Amp fuse. The equipment I use draws a lot of currant. With a strait hook up to the battery I would probably use a 30. What gauge wire are you running ? A good test would be to unhook the radio and see if the fuse blows ( Short in power wire )
well i be a monkeys uncle i went out there and put another 10A fuse in there and it worked. didnt pop it. and now the meter light dont dim when i key up and talk all over them mudducks with my little general lee radio and texas star 250
im not really sure but i know the meter on it swings further now that i have general lee hooked up to it then when i had my cobra on it. the radio is dead keying 4-4 1/2 watts. i just know it will talk i just leave it on low and the meter swings almost all the way over and if i turn it up high the truck drivers dont like for a ford ranger to walk on them but i dont care i do it anyways
