Confused
OK, so here's the deal. I have a power supply in my garage and have hooked up a 148GTL,a 29LTD and a 21LTD to it with cable and a mag mount running outside and on top of my truck. These have all worked pretty well and radio checks came back OK,and SWR's are good,BUT, when I hook up my 2000GTL to the same setup,I get no receive and when I key up my power meter hardly moves but I get audio swing but I don't get out. Anyone have any ideas as to what is happening? Thanks.

This power meter that hardly moves, is it on the power supply or is a watt meter?
It could be just the DK is set very low, thats common setup to mate a low driving amp.
You said you are running the same set up, so you are running the 2000 GTL off the power supply too?
There is a 12/110 V switch on the back you need to flip that over according to power source.
Is this a known working 2000GTL before you set it up in the garage?
Have you tried plug directly to the 110V source see if it works any better?
Do you get any noise (static) from the speaker at all? make sure it is plugged in the spk jack not the PA jack, is your spk switch set for both speaker, if you only have one speaker try it on both sides.
Have you got a different set of ext speaker that you can try?
If all checks out, likely you have a bad receiver on the 2000.

Not running 2000 off power supply, just plugged in to wall. It was working when I boxed it up years ago. It's the wattage meter that hardly moves, not even up to 4 watts but I do get static from both speakers and the pots could stand some cleaning.Wish there was a CB shop around I could take it to,all the ones I used to go to are long out of business.

i agree with pro151... if there is any radio worth fixing, it would be a cobra 2000. hope it works out for ya.PRO151 wrote:Check with someone like Sparky's, Pro-Tech or one of the other sponsors to see if they would work on it. In my opinion, this radio would be worth some shipping to get it back in working order.
