The right mic for that radio would be either an Icom mic or maybe a heil. If you're trying to talk on that radio on AM and get good reports, it most likely will never happen. They were designed to operate primarily on ssb/cw and am is not their strong suit. At best it will sound like a cb on a stock mic. Many HF rigs are like that, in that they simply don't have a booming am sound you're used to with a traditional CB. On sideband, that silver eagle should still work fine, just keep it cranked about all the way down. That rig isn't looking for amplified modulation from a mic. -drdx

THANKS DRDX. THIS RADIO IS FOR SIDE BAND ONLY. I HAVE A 2985DX FOR AM. I PUT AN ALPHA DELTA DX-CC ON MY ROOF IT DOES NOT WORK THE WAY I HAVE IT INSTALLED I'M GOING TO PUT IT UP IN AN INVERTED V POSITION MAYBE THIS WEEKEND. I MADE A FEW CONTACTS WITH IT ON THE ROOF BUT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH IT. WHEN I MOVE IT I SHOULD GET A LOT BETTER PERFORMANCE. I HAVE LOOKED AT SOME HEIL MICS I MAY BUY ONE A LITTLE LATER ON. I HATE TO SPEND 2 TO 4 HUNDRED ON A MIC BUT I WANT IT TO SOUND GOOD. THANKS FOR THE HELP AND 73'S.
