I was wondering if anyone out there had any idea how far a dipole would get stuck in a attic of a 2 stroy house with a stock radio and how good it would perfrom thanks

Funny you should mention this. I was talking to a friend who's a radio tech, and he was telling me that he's talked skip to a guy in Italy from five different hotel balconys in five countries, including Canada.......on just such a home-made dipole inverted.

they work best for skip.
being inside you probably would not get much range local

I have a bazcka Diapole had it in the attic talked 4 miles put it out side 6 miles.
