RE tube radio
Crystals either plug in or solder in depending on the radio.juniorsamples wrote:i ned to know how to replace the crystals in my radio along with whre to get them

BUT WHAT IF HE HAS A JOHNSON MESSENGER 1 OR 2 HE DID NOT SPECIFY WHAT TYPE OF JOHNSON MESSENGER IT WAS. THOSE ARE CHANNELIZED RADIOS REQUIRING A CRYSTAL FOR EACH CHANNEL WITH A DIFFERENT TYPE OF HOLDER, FREQUENCY AND LOADING CAPACITANCE REQUIREMENT THEN SYCRO CRYSTALS. KEN WILL NOT HAVE THEM!!!4 cycle wrote: My 223 HAS SYNCRO CRYSTALS AND HE HAD THEM FOR TEN BUCKS!!!

Depending on the last time it was used, you may need to change the power supply filter cap.
You ever had a tube radio, or any other tube equipment before and worked on it?
If not, be careful, there is some serious voltage roaming around in those things that can, under the right conditions, light you up like a Christmas tree. When you power it up and work on it, only use 1 hand in the radio and keep the other one in your pocket, or behind your back... and keep your nuts off anything that might provide a ground
Also, after you turn the radio off and unplug it, you can still get nails because teh power supply filter cap stores voltage...

If you can't find a power cord for it you can always hard wire it. Look up the Schematic on CB Tricks follow the wiring for the AC IN 115v goes to Pins 3 and 6 on the Octal Socket on the back of the radio. Put a jumper between Pins 4 and 5. Make sure you use a fused cord.juniorsamples wrote:i gotta get me a power coard for it
