Uniden PC68XL - Antenna Help, Please

I just got a Uniden PC68XL from Wally-World and I really like it. I am running it with a Radio Shack brand trunk mount antenna and the radio is un-tuned. I plan on getting it tuned up next weeked.

I know the antenna isn't the best int he world, but I tuned it up and have an SWR reading of 1.1 on Ch. 19. With that sort of reading is an upgrade really necessary?

If so, I've gotten good advice on different types of antennas to upgrade to. A few folks on the forum have recommended the trunk lip mount or magnet Wilson 1000.

I agree with Thumper, and having a 1.1 SWR is great but doesent mean you have great TX RX from your antenna. Getting a Wilson 5000 will give you better range and reception. You will notice a difference.

I run a 102" whip with my PC 68XL works great for me.

If I understood our local cb tech correctly, the 68XL is the replacement for the 66XL, which is what I run in my truck, the only differences being that the 68 XL has a front mount mic, and automatic squelch. Anyways, I run a 102'' stainless whip on mine, and it sounds great, and transmits better than ever.
