NEWBIE QUESTION!
Searched around and I'm either dumb or blind or both. I have a buddy with a new out of the box radio showing continuity from the center pin to the outside shield at the antenna jack. Mind you this is on the back of the radio. Correct me if I'm wrong here but does this not indicate a problem with the radio internals?

I take it that it failed to work, thus the meter test?
If it has a warranty, and warranty stickers, don't break their seal!

Actually he IS having a problem, which is why he checked it. When he said that there was Continuity at that point it struck me as odd but again I'm a newbie and wasn't 100% sure. Let me go nab his postfrom our other forum and paste it here for you all to help me trouble shoot for him... IF that's alright with you.

HIS FIRST POST
Just moved my antenna to my ARB front bumper. I'm having trouble with mega high (pegged) SWR on all channels and am thinking it's got to be the ground. I dremeled off some the of the powder coat underneath the stud nut and also under one of the bolts to the frame to make sure I was getting good contact. It was previously on the oem roof rack with an aluminum mirror mount and worked excellent with low SWR (1.25) Moving the adjustable antenna tip of course doesn't do any good as the SWR is high across all channels. I realize that the front bumper isn't the optimum mounting point and the roof was likely more ideal but there's no way it's gotta be this bad.
Any suggestions?

Meter says the mount is grounded well. No short within the mount itself. The coax isn't shorted. The SWR meter isn't shorted at either coax input. The CB shows continuity at the coax input between the center hole and outside threads
