We're getting ready to sell my parent's house. I grabbed my father's old Halicrafters SX-28A Receiver from the 40's. The pic isn't "the one" I have. The pic is just to show you what it looks like. It still works too.

Wow----that Hallicrafters S-28 is really cool looking. Really stylized, not for everyone though and are a bear & costly to get repaired aligned etc. Maybe you meant to post this in the "for sale" topic section? Just wondering, you might get better coverage that way.

Just for sharing similar interests----I have a Hallicrafters S-38 and a SX-100 and are much different and more plain looking than your S-28.

I just bought the S-38 last week (along with another Kenwood--a TS520S--that makes four Kenwoods now--lol). The S-38 is in mint condition with even the original Hallicrafters labels affixed! Cool. I like some of the older stuff like what you have there, but honestly it's pretty much obsolete, unless you just collect them. I've found the older stuff can really be serious "money pits"----but are still neat to collect & restore, if you have the extra time and money.
