Would a 12 amp power supply support a Galaxy 979 as a base set up or would I need more?

979 amp draw, using a 13.8 volt regulated power supply:

0.3 amps: Receive, speaker at average listening volume
1.5 amps: Transmitting at 1 watt deadkey (TX power knob turned down)
2.3 amps: Transmitting at 4 watt deadkey, modulating 100% (Yelling into radio). Without modulation, I get 2.2 amps with 4 watt deadkey.

A 12 amp supply would be good to power most radios. Even peaked and tuned radios probably wouldn't be drawing more than 10 amps...depending on how much they were putting out.

???

Seriously, I measured my 979 drawing on my power supply. It won't draw more than 2.3 amps.

I'm using a 7 amp power supply, but I hooked it up to my 2.5 amp power supply before and it worked fine too.
