another question for the TRC-495
I am moving to a ranch that has a 50'x60' metal building on top of a hill. This will be the location for my "Man Cave" and the base radio I a going to be messing with. I have a Predator 10K "Special" that Kale built for me (10 5/8" shaft and comp coil) with a lug mount on a tri-mag that I use on my mobile sometimes. Will this workif I slap it up on the shop roof? Sorry for the questions....but I have never run a base rig before.
thanks...

Yeah it will work, it may work even work pretty well as big as the metal roof is for the ground plane. How high is it going to be

top of the roof is approx 25'. I can either use the mag mount, or utilize a pole that is already mounted to the side that is currently holding up a TV antenna.
However....I just came across a deal on 4 - 10' sections of radio tower...so I may end up doing a dedicated antenna for the base.
thanks for the input!!

The predator will work good on the top of the roof till you get the tower up and then get a 5/8 groundplane to put up you will love it.

cool. I have been eyeing the Imax 2000 for a few days...it seems like it would be a good choice for my "starter" rig.

Never used one of those. Some say they are good but I'm partial to the 5/8ths ground plane better all around antenna
