pc68xl echo board [solved]

#22790

Post by herbman »

Picked up a Astatic EB-1 echo board, I'm sure you all have heard of it.... I don't see any problems in me hooking up the audio/power cables, I just can't figure out how to get the darn thing mounted in there, and were to install the control knob.... there are some holes on the sides that look possible, but I dont see how to make it stay there... the board didnt come with anything

what is normally done at a shop?

edit// all done, works great although not as cool as I thought it was gonna be :P

Some shops put the control in an exsisting control knob hole like the delta tune, ect, some shops put the circuit board in a plastic bag and tape it up and let it float in the radio, this is the way truck stop techs do it, not sure on the Astatic boards, but the connex boards have 2 brackets on them, drill the inter radio case and mount it there, you can unbolt the RF gain control and push it in the radio and replace it with the echo control, or drill the side of the case and install the echo control

cool, replaced the mic/rf gain control with the echo controls, however in this process I destroyed the gain control..... I remember before the pruning someone was talking about using the rf gain for variable power and bypassing it by soldering wires together, which ones? (and I need to do the same for the mic part)

my first attempt at doing this failed, I'm pretty sure I linked the wrong wires...
