if not allready done make sure everything is grounded.pound in a 8ft copper rod with leaving 3in"s sticking out and ground there.some use more then one.amp and ant.especially should be grounded.Tinman590 wrote:I have a galaxy melaka, tx400 amp and a workman bandit II (a99) I am bleeding on my neighbors cordless phone and computer speakers. you could try a TVI Filter that they have on the market,a good one.touchy subject on if they really work.
if you can raise your ant.up higher that would help hopefully for you.
for me raising from 40ft to 100ft completely cured that same problem your having but not everyone can go that high.
sometimes by lowering your modulation can help.
neighbors can be cool discussing this over the fence but behind there closed doors its a whole new ball game after awhile.

Re: Help with TVI
What you describe isn't TVI. TVI is television interference but you made no mention of interfering with their TV...just their phone and computer speakers. That is RFI...Radio Frequency Interference. You can try grounding everything...but it is unlikely to eliminate the problem entirely because what you really need is an RF ground and those are very hard to achieve due to the conductivity of the soil. For the computer speakers, you can try buying new speakers. Some are more susceptible to RF than others. I have Altec Lansing speakers and have yet to have any interference problems...and yet my neighbor heard me even with 12 watts. You can also try using snap on chokes from DX Engineering ([Please login or register to view this link]). Just wrap as much of the speaker leads as you can around the choke as close to the speaker as possible and then snap it closed.
For the phone, you can try these: [Please login or register to view this link]
If that doesn't work...try a different phone.

Circuit Breaker made a great reply, wasn"t thinking of RFI.Tinman590 wrote:When u say ground everything, you mean radio , amp and the antenna? where do I attach the ground to each of those? 590 ask your neighbor if your messing with his TV also.if you are then you have to deal with TVI and RFI.
you might be messing with more then one neighbors stuff if other neighbors are close by.
with grounding amp and radio just choose one of the screws in back and use maybe 10 or 12 gauge wire.
of course metal to metal.i just take the screw out and with a little screwdriver pry it open just enough to slip in your electrical hoop or prong in then screw the screw back in.it sure beats scraping the paint or powder coat.
Re: Help with TVI
The 'problem' is typically with the stuff that's getting interfered with, not just the stuff doing the transmitting. That means that it -might- be his problem, not yours. It's going to end up being your problem anyway (point of view), so doing what you can is a pretty good idea.
Computer speakers are notorious for being interfered with for several reasons. The same for some cordless phones. So many different types/brands that I seriously doubt there's a single 'cure all' for all of them. It basically amounts to the manufacturer not designing them 'right' (don't bother telling your neighbor that, it doesn't help much). If reducing mic-gain and power helps, then you have at least one solution to the problem. That says nothing about how 'convenient'/compatible that solution is though. Almost any by-passing, shielding, etc, will 'help' (his stuff, not necessarily your stuff). That's another one of those convenient/compatible thingys.
Good luck!

The Australian Government has produced an excellent resource for tracking down and eliminating RFI. Good illustrations and excellent technique. Check it out.

Re: Help with TVI
I have grounded everything, and turned my mod back some. My neighbor has not called back yet so Im thinking I helped it. It only happened that once so maybe conditions were a factor too. Thanks again for all the great replies. We will see what happens next!

Re: Help with TVI
Something you might think about. The FCC has an 'Interference Handbook' that has about all the same suggestions you've gotten here and a couple more possibilities. It also sets out that the problem may not be with the transmitting equipment, but with the equipment receiving the interference. Coming from the FCC that's a pretty nice thing to be able to show your neighbor. It's a free download, so why not?

I may do that, I think I will wait till they call and tell me Im interfering again. I will be ready though with that info. Thanks again'Doc wrote:Something you might think about.
