tube amp
I have a old tube amp for a base it is a maveric 250.It was my dads it went under salt water during ike along with the rest of his things.Iam trying to find out if could be fixed.Ihave not pluged it in and it was not pluged in whin it went swiming. If it is posible to fix it were would be a good place to take it close to galveston. Thanks
Re: tube amp
with salt water especially it wouldn"t be worth it to spend the money on it.that salt water has to of had to do some real corrosion by now.its got to be so bad that you couldn"t even pull the tube (or tubes?) out with out breaking them in your hands.
Re: tube amp
Most of the time, a salt water bath doesn't do anything good to electronics. If it's cleaned and dried off pretty quickly, the damage may not have been enough to hurt things. But that depends on a lot of "if's". Take a look at the insides of the thing. Does it appear to be 'pristine' and 'new' looking? Or does it look like it's been 'rode hard and put up wet'? If you can, you might take it somewhere that should at least have some idea about it's condition, and ask. Not knowing it's condition, I don't think I wanna even guess if it can be fixed.
Good luck.

Re: tube amp
good luck on getting your amp back up and working. and yes there could be some voltage stored in that amp.but it should not be if it went for a swim. as long as it has not been pluged up since.i would be sure and unload the voltage before working inside
