16 or 32 possible ?
I have a old crown vic with a 250 amp alternator.
Various radios running a 667 tx star.
I want to install a maul and push a 16 or maybe a 32.
Realistic expectation ?

depending on the year, I have dual alternator brackets for a crown vic. You could just run two 250's in parralel with a couple decent batteries and you wouldn't need a maul. (and you wouldn't have to recharge the batteries)

Re: 16 or 32 possible ?
there is no need to recharge the batteries...that's what the motor maul is for. It charges the batteries constantly, then when the amplifier is keyed up, it switches the solenoids over to seperate the maul from the al, and moves the 12v batts to series, making a 24v stack, then lowers the voltage down to go out to your amplifier...MECHMAN wrote:p71vic wrote:I have a old crown vic with a 250 amp alternator.

The 800 amp motor maul requires 8 batteries and if you don't mind completely losing the trunk plus some back seat area then go for it. 500 lbs of batteries in the trunk definately be a safety hazard.
A 16 or 32 pill is not a toy like a Texas Star and if you don't know exactly what you are doing then learn first or it'll become a money pit.
Worldwide has one and it'll feed a 32 pill.

Re: 16 or 32 possible ?
I need to ask-not to be a d#$K but just to know--everyone is set on motormauls. You get a big 800 amp maul then 8 to 10 batteries- no trunk left, no money left cause the price of the BIG mauls are ludicrous, then the price of all those batteries added to the mauls price- why dont you especially on an older vehicle with lots of engine compartment left just add a second charging system? will cost around the same as the maul once everything is done and youll have a lot more capabilities in my eyes. I know mauls work great but if you got the room to play why not use it for a couple of alternators?
