Yup, I am running into some of those problems. I bought a 35 amp noise filter that works on pos and neg wires and didnt clear up anything. If anything it is worse. I am working on some ideas and will post um when I am through.

Boys, try turning your squelch down, just to where you can't here it. Squelch does help you receive weaker signals, but if the signal is weak it will break up and miss half of what was said anyways. Try that and see if it helps.

I bought a roll of ground strap and grounded EVERYTHING to the frame. If you was to look under my truck all you would see is ground straps running to the frame. Cars and trucks from the factory do not have good grounds from the factory and if you add grounds to it it will help eliminate alot of the electrical noise in the radio.

Those are some cool ground straps, where did you get them?

Wiper noise? I would lean toward filtering the power to the radio on that one.

What kind of radio do you have?
Vehicle?
Antenna and mount?

Is your power wire running really close to your wiper motor or power?
If so, can you move it away from it?

Check my other reply, about the Magnum inline noise filter power cord, to you other post on noise.

Good luck! :Peace!:

Grounding seams to be a larger issue than I gave credit for. I removed my expensive and usless noise filter and grounded everything. I bought 8ga low resistance high strand wire and copper ends and went to town. Grounded Ladder rack ( Antenna mounted there ), bed, frame, 2 locations in cab, front end, fenders, hood, and finaly to battery. All one link, daisy chain style.

Things I noticed:

Almost no wiper noise
SWR changed dramaticaly ( cut another 3" off my 10K whip )
Better ears ( RX )
Clearer TX ( just got off the radio with a base I talk to )
Not much change in RX signals when I turn corners, go up hills, down hills. etc.
Decreased Engine noise ( Not gone )

Things I suspect.

Not enough shielding for antenna cables
Coax pickin up electrical fluctuations from power cables.

Phaze,

What filter had you ended up with?

Legacy Silencer Series Model LN-7
35 Amp Transistorized Noise Supressor

I dont think it was a bad filter, I think my noise came from other sources. I am still looking to get rid of the rest of my noise but I need to work on isolating it further. I just need more time and I am in short supply right now.
