RCI 2950 Texas Star 350 wilson 5000 Mag mount.
Ok so I install all my equipment check the standing wave all is good and flatline. But when I run the TS 350 on high and input power at around 1/4 of the way cracked open (3-5 watts) from the rci it squeels all to beat hell (im running an astatic noise cancelling mic) I try backing the mic gain down on the radio it still squeels, I turn the rf on the radio down it still squeels, i turn it up you guessed it,still squeels. So the only way I found to not squeel is setting it to the dialowatt side on the TS350 & crank it waaaaay down w/ tons of swing & it works perfectly. Any suggestions on getting the high side to work alone?

Just so we have the whole picture, exactly what antenna system are you running...including coax?
Could be you have a ground loop. Did you pull both power leads for the radio from the battery? Could also be RF feedback. Do you have a talk back feature you are using? If so, turn it off and try again.

im running the wilson 5000 magnet mount antenna w/ the stock amount of coax that is permanantly attached to it. No talkback,no echo just a nice clean rci 2950 w/ no mods. No power mic, I have 2 seperate power leads goin 2 different areas, my amp is straight to the battery and my radio is going to a hot lead in my fuse box, have all my grounds to the cab from the amp,cab from the radio, cab is to the chasis, engine to chasis etc....

Sounds like a ground problem to me. Had the same problem with a similar setup. Got mine fixed using grounds grounds and more better grounds. Maybe try running your radio directly off the battery. Hope all works out.
P.s. watch out for the metal wire at the bottom of that Mic, if your running that amp on and that thing is squealing that wire may bite ya...

Hi 414, Sounds like a nice set up! Just wondering ware you have the Antenna? It sounds like you have a RF prob. What happens if you turn the Mic gain down when you have it turned up? You could try and move the Antenna further away from Radio and if you have a dummy load put it on and see if you get the same results. Running stock Mic. all you said was its not a power Mic.( If not try stock Mic.) check if its wired right and with good connections. You could try moving the amp further away too.
You may want to put some Tin Foil over the family jewels when you turn up that Amp right know. Ya never know.
I hope this is of some help.
Good luck!

I had the same problem. It's not a feedback squeal, IT"S WORSE!!!! ground the radio and amp to the battery with the same lead, ground the chassi of the radio to a frame ground and mine went away.

Wilson antennas many times seems to need an external ground. If you ground the case of one of your pieces of equipment as others have recommend it will supply a better ground for the Wilson as well.
