Galaxy DX 959 with RFX 75 kit

#277386

Post by 420Snowman »

I just purchased a Galaxy 959 with a RFX 75 kit and I am going to use it as my base and replace my Cobra 29LTD. I have a small power supply right now, 12V, 6 amp to run the stock Cobra, but now that I am moving up to a Galaxy with the RFX 75 kit I am sure its going to require more amps. Does anyone know how many amps this radio is going to draw?? Just a ball park figure, I know its a pretty vaigue question.

As always, thanks again!!!

I run a Magnum S3 with the RFX75 driver and I run a 25 Amp power supply. A ten amp supply made the radio "motor boat" due to low amperage. Please take note that the RFX75 was originally designed for the Magnum Radios exclusively and even though it does and will work with other 10 and 11 meter radios through my personal and many other C.B. hobbyist experience, it can shorten the life expectancy of other manufacturers radios. I hope that this info helps you.

Thanks Sarge, I hope this lasts a while and nothing happens to it. I am going to run a 7 amp that I have now and see what happens and I will bump up to a 10-20 amp if needed.
