Base interference question

I have a Uniden Washington plugged into 110. It interferes with any radio in my house that is plugged into the wall. But any radio that is powered by batteries has no interference. Any ideas on fixing this?

Try plugging into a good serge protector. The circuitry in those will in most cases smooth out the signal comming out of your transformer.

Phaze is right on. A good surge protector with AC line, or noise filtering should do the job. If you don't have one, try RadioShack, Best Buy, or any other electronics supplier. If you buy one, you can always take it back if it doesn't work.

P.S. - You should always keep your equipment plugged in through a surge protector anyway. You don't want to replace everything if your house takes a surge from a nearby lightning strike, or other power line disturbances.

Side note, I use a furman RP-8D power conditioner for my radio. The Furman power conditioners are designed to kill noise and smooth out power problems for pro audio applications. It also works well for base stations. A lot more expensive from what you can buy at rat shack but well worth the extra for protection. You can buy more basic models without the power meter or lights for about 30 on ebay.
