Picked up a Coily a few months ago because I was getting the blues with the SWR on my other antenna. Mounted and tuned to 1.1. Now I stay is DX when I bump down. Great antenna Dan. Has anyone purchased his base antenna? From the feedback I hearing that it's the best ground plain out there. NO TVI

im not trying to say anything bad about the coilys
but i have taken alot of coily antennas and run over them with the drive tires of the big trucks
and replaced them with the Comp 10ks
and they call back say they can hear alot better and talk alot farther
just wanted to share that

For that kind of money you can buy a beam and a rotor and have a better set up.

Running an 8-inch Mr. Coily on my truck..I was able to tune SWR to 1.0 1.2 on 1/20/40
The receive on this antenna is great.
I am running it with my Ranger and a Texas star 500,, This combo really gets me out..

I know this topic goes back since 2006, but I've been running his Excalibur .64 wave for a few years now and I have to say it is an awesome antenna. Built like a tank and can handle a lot of power. Very expensive but worth every penny. It has handled all harsh weather conditions like ice storms, heavy snow, high winds, etc. There have been a few summer storms up here with high winds that have lifted a few shingles off of my roof and snapped tree limbs but the antenna survived.

They were at one time a sponsor for the forum along with a couple other “ tough as a tank” brands. You will have to search the internet really hard now to find the ones still in business.

Coily (I think) is still in business...I also have one of his .64 ground plane antennas only mine is in storage out in the barn...took it down after about 6 months of use to put up a beam, and never looked back!

Biggest problem with buying "any" of Dan's antennas now days, is the turn around time is in "months"...last I heard he wasn't taking any new orders trying to get caught-up, plus I hear he's in the process of moving from Oregon to somewhere on the East coast...so who knows when or IF he ever starts building again...(sure feel bad for those who sent him money for something they may never get now)

I'm not going to get into his pricing, but i will say IMO it's borderline "ridiculous "
