Your Local Channel?
I like to travel and often listen to 19 for entertainment, at times I also scan to find the "locals". In our town most local chat is on 24. I was wondering what is your local channel or channels?

Re: Your Local Channel?
28, 19, and 15 are local channels...Unless "RW" is on the air, then 11 becomes a local.

19, 14, 1 and the low side of 14 (26.675) when the ground noise gets up to high to hear on normal channels.

Re: Your Local Channel?
San Antonio, TX has a few locals on 19 in the evenings and at night. And on my daily run to Houston, I've noticed there is a lot of high-powered trash on 19 - especially on the east side, near I-10 and Loop 610 East.
I'd rather be a conservative nut job than a liberal with no nuts and no job.

Re: Your Local Channel?
I usually hear the most traffic on 34 around here and it is our main channel. 24 and 31 can also be very active at times. 17 is occasionally used; one of the other locals usually monitors it so I chat with him on it pretty frequently. If someone tries to key down on channel 34 we usually move up to 40 or down around 30.

I hang out on 38lsb. Looks like most of the over modulated ratchet jaws are on channel 6 (super bowl) around here. Being such a large city. I think you can find people talking on many channels all day and night. In over 300 different languages.

Re: Your Local Channel?
I'm one of the lucky few skip talkers who lives in a area where their is little to no traffic on the air.I have full 40 channel +/- range around here. It's sad in a way because 15 to 20 years ago every one here had a radio & used it. I rember going to church and hearing the men in the Amen corner shouting 10-4 instead of Amen. A lot has changed round here in 20 years. I was talking skip about a month ago to a man in upstate NY, he could not belive I was talking skip in my pickup on a old 29 classic with a 225 Palomar and a cheap truckstop coil whip. He asked "how did I get out over the locals with out a set of beams". I replied "easy their isn't any locals around here". My channels is the 10 & 11 meter band!

and on a related note, i use to see window stickers and bumper stickers with the information such as ,, who or what cb club was on which freq. or a call name and "monitors ch. 7"
i think i'll paint it on my back window, glass is easy to clean and i can get creative on it until i find a design i like.
i can remember traveling and talking to people as we passed thru their towns,, great for information too. .."where's the kegger tonight?" who's got a good menu?, anybody seen diane? haha,

Re: Your Local Channel?
I remember that too back in the day and often bring it up, radio used to be pretty popular like that around here. now everyone text messages eachother even within just feet ! there are alot of rual towns around here and just about everybody had an antenna on a house or in up in a tree, friday nights and the weekend was full of people talking about this and that. now it's really dead,..kinda. I have been scanning the freqs and found a few die hards here and there but mostly on the still popular ch 17 trash channel .443 Arizona wrote:and on a related note, i use to see window stickers and bumper stickers with the information such as ,, who or what cb club was on which freq. or a call name and "monitors ch. 7"

I have to admit I get caught up in the texting. But the only problem is there is no "echo text, or Roger text beep"

Re: Your Local Channel?
Ok, so far from what I've been monitoring through the weekend in my small area (Willamette Valley) I've found, farmers using ch 10 & 11, 20, log haulers sharing ch 17 (call freq) daytime mon thru fri, then soccer moms and local chit chat on 36 thru 40 go figure.
