I am just outside of Athens, Ga.
Just getting back into CB after life interrupted it in the 80's.

At the moment only a mobile in the RV.

I find it difficult to even get a radio check.
Maybe my timing is off, but I have only found one local that came back
while he was working skip.

Considering Base antenna and bringing in the Cobra 29 but I am
unsure if there is anyone else near by.
Even 19 is quiet!

In Pensacola, it seems to be Ch.6.

Interstate 10 goes right through, so there's plenty of transient CB traffic.

And a few super-powered base stations, "back in the swamp."

Our local channel here used to be 32 AM but there hasn't been any real local activity here in years. I think channel 35 USB was the local sideband channel.

I'd have to say 33 AM as I heard someone hollar for a break last week but in reality anyone I stop on. Traffic is nonexistent around here. Even the 2 meter repeaters are quiet I can hit them both but I'm the only one on.

There is a small group of people on LSB 38, otherwise everyone else around here is talking out of band on either channel 46 or 48. Surprisingly the people out of band are the nice ones, and most of those on 38 constantly fight with everyone.

T Rex wrote:There are no locals here in Western NY either. I just got back into CB after being off since 1988. I put up an I max 2000 and my old JC Penny 6241 and there is no one on the air. There is an interstate right by be and CH19 is even pretty dead. The most traffic I hear on 19 is a local factoy directing incoming truckers to the proper loading dock. I am going to try and get a few of my old CB friends to get back on, I know they still have thier gear. I will try and hang on 38 LSB and see if I can make any contacts it seems that a lot of you are on there. T Rex..

Now you have another in Western NY, well in a few weeks. Been on for a couple months. My radio is being worked on at the present time, but I am on 33 AM when in my truck. I chit chat on 36 lsb and 38lsb when on my base. I should have my base back up at the end of August.

Hi Scholar ... I am a neighbor in the Syracuse, NY area waving a hand to my Western NY friends. Maybe we can have a NY SSB or AM net sometime when to conditions are right. Channel 19 seems to be the local channel here.

So wit that bein said, the local call channel is L38 by my decree !!! HA HA HA HA HA

Wave of the hand from north of Lake Superior EH !!

Back in the day it was 27.205. That was back when there
was a station or two on every street!
Now there only a couple of us left on the air and mostly monitoring
Ch 19. Or wherever the skip is best !!
