It wont mater how far away from the computer you are as long as you have properly grounded your vehicle and amp.

Look at [Please login or register to view this link]

After reading that I went back and completly regrounded my truck and it made all the difference in the world.

And as far as bolting your amp, I dont know where you are mounting it or what your needs are but my amp is under the passenger seat and not bolted. I stays put as is.

I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND INSTALLING YOUR AMP /LINEAR IN THE CONSOLE FOR THE MAIN REASON YOUR LINEAR NEEDS AIR SO IT WONT OVERHEAT. TRY TO MAKE YOUR GROUND WIRE AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE. I GROUNDED MY AMP TO MY SEAT POST. IF YOU RUN YOUR NEGATIVE TO YOUR BATTERY AND YOU GET A LOT OF ENGINE OR ELECTRONIC NOISE I WOULD RECOMMEND GROUNDING IT TO THE SEAT POST OR SOMEWHERE THAT HAS METAL MAY EVEN TAKE A SCREW DRIVER AND SCRAPE SOME PAINT OFF SO YOU SEE THE METAL! JUST MY 5 CENT WORTH! GOOD LUCK ON HOOKING UP YOUR LINEAR.

well my dam console lid is broken anyways so chances are if i am running the linear the console will be in back well and looked at bunch of of different mounting options but it seemed like anywhere else it would get in the way and there it good chance i am going to be heading after a fan
