Talk Back?

#31679

Post by WavMixer »

This is a new one to me. From what I've read, I assume that talk back is a feature that allows you to hear what you are broadcasting? If this is true, seems to me that this would cause lots 'o feedback.

Thats correct. Its good if your trying to run an echo or something, or just want to know what you sound like.

You can get a noise canceling microphone to cut down on the feedback.

Sounds like a rather useless feature, doesn't it? But I suppose it would be nice to test how your sounding. I've never used talkback or echo, but I'm stoked to see what all the hype is about when I get my new Stryker.

well yea and know on the useless

Echo when not overdone can make you sound alot better. I preferr echo over a just plain voice. And some other audio features some radios have.
You would never get it right if you couldnt hear yourself.
Plus sometimes its cool just to hear yourself

I have both and the talkback feature dont realy help, if you get it loud enough to hear it squeels. I use a much better method.

Stick one of my boys in the drivers seat and have um talk and adj while I listen on the base, then leave it alone ! Works every time !

THERE IS A GUY WHO WORKS AT DULLES AIRPORT AND NO LIE JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY HE GETS ON CHANNEL 19 AND STARTS TALKING ALL THIS STUPID STUFF AND THE WORST PART THERE IS NO ONE TALKING TO HIM! SO HE WOULD FALL IN THE CATEGORY OF A PERSON WHO REALLY LOVES TO HEAR HIMSELF TALK!

Talkbacks very valuble, but abused big time! Its there to listen to yourself to have the ability to adjust your own echo board.....so every 2 sec you dont need to ask "Hows this sound?......How about this??" But as of late its become a feature so people can just plan listen to themselves rattle on! Its a misunderstood feature.

ALTERNATIVE BENEFITS TO TALK BACK

#34907

Post by troy »

WELL FOR ME THE TALK BACK HAS A ANOTHER USE.... I HAVE A SPEECH IMPEDIMENT. I LOST MY HEARING WHEN I WAS YOUNGER & HAD TO LEARN TO TALK ALL OVER AGAIN. MY HEARING STILL IS NOT GOOD & NEITHER IS MY SPEECH. HARD TO PRONOUNCE EVERY WORD, & I TALK TOO FAST. I FOUND OUT THAT THE TALKBACK FOR ME, HELPS ME TO IMMEDIATELY CORRECT MY PRONUNCIATION & TO SLOW MY SPEECH TO BE UNDERSTOOD. SO THIS IS A SIDE EFFECT OFFERED TO ME FROM THIS DEVICE. ONE POINT TO MENTION... I NEVER KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT TALKBACK, UNTIL I BOUGHT MY 1ST DECENT RADIO FROM MIKE AT RADIOACTIVE..
