What's strange is so many noobs making posts about it. Ya'll trying to advertise for the rig?

Re: New Comtex CS-1000 DX 10 meter radio
I think its pretty cool someone found this .There also is a Alpha 10 Mobile radio thats new and is going to be sold in the States. The Comtex CS-1000Dx is only sold in Europe for now maybe they will change the name and bring it State Side.It looks to be Qaulity of a Ham Rig should be a good radio.I will make some calls Monday and see if I can get any info on it coming over here.It seems like over seas gets all the good radios I used to have a site from a radio store in I think it was Germany or some other place that had radios that looked to be 20 years ahead of the stuff in the States.
All radios tuned by the best me.
Re: New Comtex CS-1000 DX 10 meter radio
Not all of them, but most European 'CB' radios have FM. I seriously doubt if that would ever 'catch-on' here. At least not for long. Too many complications.

How do you know that for sure? Do you own 1 or did you heard that or is 't cos it's not a US build rig???wi11ie wrote:Don't bother with the Alpha 10.. It sucks..

My opinion is that it looks great no blingbling ,programmable ,the reviews that I've seen are OK but i don't know how it for real works .After if i used the set by my self i can give my real statement about it.

Sorry opinion is a better substitute for statement i think.
ps
Now I need a new additional post to make my old one to improve ,my opinion is that some rules are a bit too exaggerated

As of complications, I'm not really sure what you mean. For local communication I actually like FM, because of the capture effect

Thanks for your opinion. The rules will stay the same.19dt2120 wrote:Now I need a new additional post to make my old one to improve ,my opinion is that some rules are a bit too exaggerated

Re: New Comtex CS-1000 DX 10 meter radio
I didn't like the Maaas 5k much, when compared to my old President Grant. The pots feel wimpy and the channel switch is just horrible, as the clarifier. The key-beep must be kept off, since it's way too loud. After 4 hours of warm up the frequencies were quite OK as it's only a CB, sideband +50Hz and FM +20Hz. Measured the RX sensitivity to -120dBm on FM, which is middle class (no SINAD, just my ears), most of the CB's I've measured will do -125, even -120dBm at best.
Other people say the RX tone on FM is very bassy, missing all higher frequencies, but I cannot confirm this since I only had time to measure it on bench. AM was not measured as it's not commonly used here in Finland, but seemed that it needs pumping up the modulation from stock, watched from TX on spectrum analyzer. FM deviation was 5kHz+, so that'll need to be dropped. There may be a lot of chinese variation on the rigs, because others say that the FM TX is too silent? Tested unit was serial numbered under 100.
Maybe this would be a rig for someone that has to see the frequency all the time and doesn't want to buy a used rig. Personnally I would maybe go to a Albrect AE5800.

Re: New Comtex CS-1000 DX 10 meter radio
OFF TOPIC but
Is Alpha 10 Mini AM/FM and Alpha 10 SSB . The Alpha 10 Mini which I purchased one of the first ones and have ran,or excuse me,have tried to run for 3 months and is the one Willie is refering to. Impossible to use as a mobile becuase of white, engine and every other noise imaginable it picks up and interferes with stereos etc under transmit. Put a M6B power mike on and is audio is still unacceptable. The only good thing I can say is the audio does greatly improve on FM. The radios were cheap priced and had hoped would be a good lowend AM radio but I doubt we will hear anymore about the Mini. Search will yield a utube and a written evaluation on the new sideband model,,,but the review mirrors the Mini's problems with audio ,,it just aint there.
