i have a new cobra 25 nw and want an amp. i dont need anything outrageous....just more power. does anyone have any suggestions on amps.....im lookin to spend about 100 bucks. what can that get me? how far can i expect to get out. i have a co-phase set up and my swr doesnt break 1.1 on channel 19 and 20, higher on 1 and 40. anyhow...any suggestions or anything i can do myself to my radio?
You can get a 2 pill Palomar, with skip rolling, you'll talk over the USA,,,look here at Radio Active's web, he has them at the price you want to spend
I picked up a Texas Star DX399 for around $200 from G.I.Joes. It is working well for me with my Uniden 68xl (I'm pretty sure that it is the same radio as you 25)

When conditions in the atmosphere are right so radio signals bounce (skip) off the ionosphere for long distance (dx) communication. You'll know its rolling when you hear a bunch of people from other states on your radio.
