Weird issue..

On my way to work today I turned on the CB. I heard no one on channel 19, I turned my squelch completely off - nothing. Went through every single channel, nothing - no one was talking.

Now usually I can pick up on LOADS of people talking from everywhere. Do people just not use the CB from 2:30-5:30pm CST or what?

I thought maybe my CB wasn't working or my antenna wasn't connected properly - nope, everything was fine. I was able to pick up on the WX (weather band) flawlessly, crystal clear.

So what's up with this? My radio is working 100% fine, and I couldn't pick up on any signals (not even very very faint one like I usually can.) My current antenna is a dinky sh*tty little 300 watt if I remember right (got it AGES ago) but still - usually it picks up lots of stuff.

Radio was dead in SW Ohio tonight also,,super bowl was dead also, thought it was my mobile, but checked on my base it was the same,,,we have storms coming tonight, maybe thats it,,,,,

Yea I get that every now an then. You run threw all 40 without a sound and it makes you wonder.
I guess if conditions are really bad and there is 0 skip and if the big stations are not talking you would have to be fairly close to hear any radio traffic.

Did you try to make any contacts... Like on 19? I know sometimes if its dead quiet you can ask for a radio check and kinda wake people up and start some talking.. Sometimes that works lol.

I did say "breaker breaker 1 9" (isn't that the correct way to do it?) but no one responded back.

Sad thing is, there were quite a few semis here and there to.

Dont feal discuraged. Yesterday, all day, I didnt hear any contact on any channel. In metro Atlanta with 3 major innerstates that is almost unheard of. Today you couldnt hear a break in the chatter at all.

I have had weekends where the radio was silent. A lot of truckers like that. I have keyed up and commented on the silence and got a few replies, so they were out there just not talking.

Is everybody getting the same conditions the last couple days/today? Wonder if there is some strange space weather cycle going on or something?

I just flipped through all 23 channels on my Sonar FS-23. Not a voice to be heard on any of them.
