New radio installation, mounting antennas, amp

#34916

Post by Slick »

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 and pull a 5er. I want to install a CB and able to get good road range. I would like to install matching antennas but only have the standard mirrors, not towing mirrors on the truck. I have seen ads for hood mounts for Dodge trucks, I guess these mount under the hood close to the firewall so that the antennas are attached just forward of the front doors on the fenders. I would like to get the maximum range poss able for road use. I have some experience using an older Cobers with a magnetic anetnna and was able to ber only a couple of miles out of it traveling the eastern seaboard states. Should I get an amp? I will tak all the advice you guys can give me!

Thanks

i would not run two antennas you would be better off with one on the drivers side if you pull a traler alot .middle of the cab works good too

you can always run a amp or get a h/p radio like galaxy 95t

a few good antennas to look at would be the 10k , mr coily

Want a good set-up, that wont require ya to start adding a bunch of battery's and alternators, yet give ya plenty of loud audio?

General Lee, a 5-pill X-Force, Davemade, or Fat Boy amp, and a Predator 10K for the roof! Trust me...you'll be herd. And in Skip-land also...

You can get a tri mag mount called the Launch Pad from Workman to mount a Pred 10K antenna on the roof. It will get out fine and not be a permanent mount. I have one set up like that and it works great.

The Galaxy 95T or the Connex 4600 turbo are both great radios and have a built in 2 pill amp. I have a 4600 and I can tell you that it is a talker.
