RCA MARK NINE

#323721

Post by goatboy »

Been working on an old RCA mark nine, on a scale of 1-10 it is a 5-6. Did not survive the smoke test C2,C1 are bad, and the output mod tube is going bad it is a 6AQ5A.
The serial No. is 12164, that should make it an early to mid 63 production unit, they started selling them in 1964.
Once I get C1,C2 replaced and find a better 6AQ5A would any one like to donate one?
Then I can see what else needs being done to it, it has channels 5,6,7, and cap 26.620. I got this radio from a retired CAP Officer, it still has there permit on it and call sign"Mandan 93" and even older one "KNAX2829" these were on the top of the radio.
Dont worry wont use CAP channel, will post pics of it soon, any help and guidence would be great.
Have BK2040 and the Bk 1040, also have Tristar 250FC , and sencores Mighty Might VII TC 162 tube tester.
Also have SAMS #9 to align it, I should get a set of extra tubes for it just in case one dies like the mod tube, any other ideas what i should get and replace?

I will donate you a fully tested 6AQ5 or two. PM me your address and I'll get them in the mail to you. I use a B&K 707 Dynajet and a Precision Apparatus Co. 10-54 to test all my tubes.
