Might just be me but I would be scared to drive a 4 pill with a 300 watt swing into it.

I agree, i see smoke in the near distant future

I have a high drive MS500 with 4 2879's and only put 20 watt dk with 35 watts of swing and see over 500 with it. I'm sure KG4 would have some input with this as to transistor input/output. 2879's are designed only to put out 100w per pill, with a max of 50 watt drive. im surprised it didnt smoke on the first key
Here is the info on 2sc2879's [Please login or register to view this link]

I agree 300 is pushin it and i am gonna ccut it down but with that said yesterday and the day beforethe box talked all over the usa and i am assured byy the guy that builds vipers tthat it will take 200 watts swing all day long and is capable of doing over the grand im doing now witth more voltage. It is a fact its a well built box to hold up 300 watts of swing for anny time for sure 2 days and i ran it a lot

These type of boxes will take some punishment if built and tuned right. Are you a satasfied customer or just advertising?

KG4 's data sheet is just that, (I said this before) the spec's are for a electronics's design engineer to use when building a transmitter, in real life that little 2879 can do a lot more than the specs, not saying it would live a full life doing it but can be volted and wattaged up to do more. I am also not saying that it will do the 1K (that meter on the high end is a little giving) but close to it and if you are not a rag chewer, you may get a couple of yrs out of it.

I agree and disagree. I still dont think and will ever think driving 4 2879's with 300 watts is acceptable. And I dont think you will ever see close to 1k with 4 2879's no matter if its a comp amp or not. i mean, yea u can over-volt them, but even a high-drive amp doesn't like more than 50W, unless your talking about a 8, 12 or 16 pill then that's a different story. Im absolutely surprised that setup didnt go up in smoke the first key.

Yes and I agree with you shaggy , I wouldn't put more than 100w into that Viper and second I really wouldn't own one, there are better boxes out there (AB quality). The spec is at 100w@12.6v with 6w input, but what is the voltage of a running vehicle, mine is 14.2v (Dodge Ram) so it is already getting a boost. Putting 300w into it is defiantly destroying the box but if that is what he wants ,so be it. I figure that in real life he maybe getting 800w, but I have stingy meters.

You need to search for it. Read the OP. He doesn't have enough posts to post a video yet.

If it takes that much drive to get 1kw pep it isn't built right. If it doesn't get hot with that small heatsink I think there may be some monkey watts in there.

Think there is a lot of junk watts showing on the meter, I've spoken with jerky locally and the radio doesn't sound bad but I also think this is pushing that Viper to the extreme. I prefer a bigger box and low drive, just let her cruise and be happy happy happy!!!
