well been having fun with 10 meter dx using a center fed horizontal dipole stretched between by porch and a pine tree "about 25 feet off the ground" and working the world with just the power of the Yaesu FT897D "no amp"

Was talking with Big Blue about his Moxon 10 meter beam and decided to go ahead and order one myself as well as a rotor, should be here next week, interested on how that will work for me on 10 meters dx wise over the dipole.

As far as my 2 meter interests I wasnt very active on my local repeaters but I'm working on changing that, I had a copper jpole up that was decent but took it down as i reported in another post "i'll save it for travel or emergency use" I have thrown up a Comet GP9 in its place about 37 feet up with excellent results so i am really enjoying 2 meters.

As far as my CB interests, Up here I do not have a whole lot of locals outside of 19, there is a small group of regs that talk on 17 and 38 lsb that are spaced out 20 miles from me I chit chat with so dx is a welcome treat trying to make contacts with fellow CBRT members "I always listen for someone shouting CBRT DX" and always use this term when I am shooting 11 meter DX so listen for that  and I will make every attempt to return your call.

well thats it for this Journal entry.

Hey dj, would like to see pics of the moxon as you are building it, I am not too sure about wire antenna where we live, ice will tear them apart, but did you check out the one that HomerBB built, [Please login or register to view this link], the man is "King" of the homemade antennas.

Yes i did and he IS the man for sure, the one Big Blue has is what I also chose : MFJ-1890 10 Meter Moxon Antenna

there is a very informative review on it located [Please login or register to view this link]

while they say it is possible to tune it for 11 meters I only want it for it's intended 10 meters.

Yep, I saw that one too. Looks like it will work great on 10m.

DJ & Greg:

Was talking skip with the Moxon yesterday to a guy in Pennsylvania (Moxon pointed NE) and naturally, the PA operator was pointed SW. A station in Australia came back to the PA operator and I couldn't hear Australia with the back side of the Moxon. I swung it around to the SW and made the QSO with the Aussie contact. Once again, it's still a two element beam but works well for what it is. Plus, you could easily pack it up and take it camping or where ever then put it back to together and you are back in business! MFJ says it will handle 1 KW continous...............

Very nice Mark! I remember listening to ZZ top in high school. They're awesome. That was a long time ago though (1987) I have been on 10 meters to lately. I dont know why but 10,12 and 17 seem to be my favorite. I dont use an amp either with the 450 and it seems as if I have no limitations. I know there are better antennas, but I cant be more please with this 80 meter delta loop. Anyway, just wanted to say hi. We need to hook up on 10 or 12 soon. Maybe we can try this afternoon when I get home from work. I cant PM so I'll look for you on here. Take care. Kevin.

ya sounds good, I work as a bartender so my hours tend to change quite often, weekends I try to devote to dx if conditions allow, perhaps this weekend.
