I like the RF Limited CR577, it's a ceramic mic with a nice sound, amplified to boost the modulation, and it comes wired for your radio. Check the sponsors, [Please login or register to view this link] , for one.

Are you going to he in a noisy truck? Noise cancelling mics like the astatic 636 are good if you are. Ranger makes an sr198 I've heard good things about but don't waste money on a new road king 56. They used to be a good mic but the new ones are junk. If it doesn't say turner telex on the back it's a new one. The new ones only have turner on the back and the rubber lip guard is smaller.

If you're going to be in a low noise environment the d104 hand mic works well. You can remove or replace a resistor to get a little deeper tone out of it. The rf limited cr577 that MD mentioned is a good one. RF limited also has the 2018 extreme if you like echo. The 2018 also had adjustable talk back and a switchable noise cancelling feature.

The microphones are for non noisy environments. I have 2 636L's and a 575MB. I have a D104 desk, and a D104 mobile. I am aware of the noise issues. I don't normally drive with the windows down in my personal vehicles, and I can't run one in my work vehicles. I switch between vehicles up to 4 times a day. It's the nature of my job.

Glad you know about the noise thing. My reply was directed at K Williams since this is his thread.

My mistake,I understand :icon_e_smile: I've been doing this off and on since the mid 70's. I know just enough about radios to get myself in trouble  However, I've always had good sounding radios, thanks to some good people I've known through the years. I've been lucky!
