adapter cross wired?

#363242

Post by barefoothank »

I purchased an adapter (4pin to 5pin realistic) however it doesn't work. Got the ohm meter out and it appears that all 4 wires are wrong
and if I'm reading the chart provided by Greg on this thread
[Please login or register to view this link]
it wont work on any radio. I'm posting a photo of my notes with the chart on lwr LH being what is and the one on RH what I think should be.
Edit: phooie the pic is off by 90
Grateful for your input

The one I have for my Navajos is push in style at the radio and the mic screws to that. C1=shield=R1, C2=audio=R4, C3=tx= R3 and C4=rx=R5. At least that's how mine is set up. Not knowing which realistic it needs to fit this may or may not work for ya. It is possible that your adapter was either mislabeled or put in the wrong bin. They all look almost alike so it can easily happen. Hope this helps. 73s

There were other brands that used 5pin din's, HyGain and Sears to name a few, I believe Cobra had a couple models to. I would contact who you got it from and request another and specify the Relistic radio's model number. If you got it off that auction site the seller will usually make it good, getting a bad feedback is something most don't want.

What model realistic do you need it to fit? Md is right about other manufacturers using the 5pin din. Cobra used 5 pin din and screw type jacks as well as some rangers, president hr2600 [wich is inverted the mic has the pins and the socket has the holes] Midland made some models with a 5pin din also. I'm sure there are many more. But does yours push in or screw on? If its a radio you plan on keeping and using for awhile you might want to consider changing the mic jack to a four pin cobra. They seem to be the most common nowdays anyhow.

Sorry for the omission, it's a Trc-485 and the mike slides in.
I'm planning to rewire the adapter this weekend as it came apart pretty easily.
The Realistic mic is structure ly broken inside, I have a piece of foam in there but I'd rather go with a cobra or accessory mic.

Don't blame you there. Myself I would rewire the radio and put a 4pin jack on it wired for a cobra and slap a d104 on it but that's just me. I love the d104s.
