Galaxy radio blowing fuses

I've gotta galaxy radio just hooked up in vehicle with a Wilson 1000 antenna and keeps blowing fuses is anybody farmlier with this problem

what radio is it. does it blow as soon as you install the fuse. was the power cord hooked up back wards. if so there is a diode that shorts to protect the radio if it is hooked up wrong. let us know just how it blows.plus what radio it is.

With not a lot of info to go on I would say it was hooked up backwards and now the protection diode is fried.

It's a galaxy 33 once I hooked it up it had juice and played once I keyed it up to get the SWR reading it blew the fuse

The hotwire the red wire is hooked up to the postive post on battery and the black wire is grounded on the metal on the fender

what size fuse are you using. if it is too small it will blow when you key the radio. it should have about a 5 amp fuse for the galaxy 33. a 2 amp will pop if that is what you are using. does it still pop what ever fuse you put in it as of now.

Is it the fuse at the battery (hope you have one there) or the fuse at the radio? If it's blowing when keyed but not when turned on it might be too low an amerage fuse. Could be the wire is too small for the run. Could be the radio has a transmit problem.

The fuse is a 2A 250 V

a 2 amp is too small for key up on this radio. takes about a 5 amp. most of them in this radio comes with a 4 amp.

Ok I'll get a 5 amp fuse tommrow and put it in and see if that fixes the probem

I had the same problem with my lincoln 2 when I first got it. it replaced my grant 2 and my 980 so when I swapped them out I kept the power cord in line that came with my grant 2 which had a smaller amp fuse and it popped when I keyed. I replaced it with the fuse that came with the lincoln 2 power cord. everything good to go now.

good deal, glad you got the problem fixed. the dual final radio takes a larger fuse than the single final radios. even when you do a peak and tune on a radio it will need a little larger fuse from stock since it increases the amp draw of the radio.
