Re: Best mic
RF limited cr577, astatic 575, RF limited 2018 extreme. An old RK56. Many more I'm sure.
Re: Best mic
Depends on your voice characteristics, and your particular application. If you need noise cancelling, the SRA-198 has the most noise cancelling properties on the market, IMHO. A "hotter" mic than that would be the old RK-56 or a SkyThumper 65-DX. And as stated above, the 2018 Extreme with the noise stuff OFF is a great sounding mic. Also, the 95T2 CAN be somewhat temperamental when it comes to using a power mic. I personally never had a problem with mine, but I've heard stories from other people having problems. YMMV.

Re: Best mic
I second the SRA-198, good mic, very compatible with the radio. Some of the other mics mentioned are excellent choices but near impossible to find.

Re: Best mic
The older Uniden stock mics that came with the old PC68, was a good mic as well. Has great audio, not booming, but clean and clear as heck!! I've even used it on my Icom 746 and it sounds good on it!! It's model #BMKG0637001.
Looks like this. [ external image ]
These are noise cancelling too I think and they work well with every radio I have ever used it on. Good mic for a stock one!!!

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Re: Best mic
It all depends on your voice and equipment. I tried the sra198 in the mobile on my cobra 29. It didn't modulate as well or sound as full as the old road king 56. I saw less power on the meter and everyone asked what I was doing differently because I didn't sound as good. It works very well for some people and I've heard some guys that sounded great with one. It just wasn't for me. It's still a much better than a new road king 56...Those things are worse than some stock mics.
