New Radio RCI 2995DXCF
Purchased and installed a new radio a couple weeks ago. Got it setup and working well. Ranger 2995DXCF model. Hooked in my MFJ-299 mic and everyone says I have a sweet sounding radio. I find it to be a good receiver, sensitive and brings in long distance contacts better than my Galaxy does. Adds a nice element to the radio room.
I did notice that when you set the squelch to just block out the white noise you can hear the fans through the speakers. I put my head phones on and it sounded like a twin engine turbo prop jet. These radios now come with the fan package installed and plugged into a 12 volt connection in the back of the radio. I rewired the fans to run from another 12 volt source and the fan noise from the radio disappeared. Cool.
Overall I like the radio and its capabilities. Nothing compared to a nice HF rig but I find it adequate and fun to use.

Good to hear you got one, they were hard to come by. I was wondering about the "CF", looked it up and it's "comes with fan", interesting and I wouldn't get one without it. I am curious as to which amp board is coming in the new ones, hopefully they are still using the dual 2290's but I think they have the mosfet board in the new models now. If you could snap a pic of where you made the new connction for the fan so others can see.

Re: New Radio RCI 2995DXCF
All I did was cut off the phono plug adapter and add some wire to hook into my DC power block to receive the power from my Pyramid power supply. Nothing real technical. Just wanted to get the sound of the fans out of the receive on the radio. Picture file to large to upload.

Re: New Radio RCI 2995DXCF
I think there is a second 12v tap on the switching supply that would work for the fan and could add a few ferrite beads on the leads. Could you do me a favor and look in the manual for the amp board part number, would like to see if they made any changes, thanks.

Still love mine. Now looking for a good Ham Rig. Won't buy for a while as I have other things going on but some time after the first of the year.
