Re: Wiring order
880 and 980 stock mic pin out
pin 1- audio
pin 2- rx
pin 3- TX
pin 4 - not used for after market mic
pin 5- com-shield-grd
pin 6-8 volts for wireless mic
this is the pin out on the radio / you will just need to hook up the proper wires from the mic you want to install. do not use pins 4 and 6 for the mic you are trying to wire up.

Re: Wiring order
Turner Super Sidekick (4 wire microphone) to Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB
pin - 1 = white
pin - 2 = red
pin - 3 = black
pin - 4 = nothing connected
pin - 5 = shield
pin - 6 = nothing connected
Switch on bottom to electronic, keep pin 4 and 6 from shorting inside mic plug. Turn microphone gain on radio to max and adjust microphone gain on mic to best sound, do not let it overdrive/overmodulate.
This post feels like "deja vue", haven't we covered this before.

Re: Wiring order
How are you wiring a 4 pin plug to a 6 pin radio? First thing you need is the right plug.

Re: Wiring order
Then that changes everything. You probably should wire the microphone for a 4 pin Cobra/Uniden, most adapters are wired that way on the 4 pin end, that wiring is readily available on the internet and searching here, you just have to be sure the adapter is for a 6 pin Uniden Bearcat 980, 880, or the new Uniden 878/868, if it's not then it needs to rewired also, if it's wired wrong it will blow the 8v circuit in the radio.

Re: Wiring order
The adaptor I have, is the one that came with the radio.
Mic was previously wired for a 148gtl which uses 4 pin jack.
The D104 I have,is wired for the 148 and it does work on the 980,using the adapter.
Sorry about the multiple posts,I'm desperate LOL

Re: Wiring order
If it worked on the Cobra it should work using the adapter that came with the radio. If it transmits when plugged in (not keyed) reverse the red and black wires.
