There seems to be some discussion on desk mikes vs hand helds . What do you prefer?

For my base station radios I prefer a desk style microphone, and naturally a mobile mic is easier to use in a vehicle.

Whatever sounds better with your voice and your radio. Desk mics are nice but I prefer a better quality mic on a boom and key the radio with a foot switch.

Well, for mobile I love my Ranger SRA-198 noise canceling mic. If I owned a base station I would probably go with a Turner or an Astatic "Eagle" series mic.

For my base a good desk mic. MFJ-299. For mobile, I like my D104M6B.

I never had a desk mike on any of my base radios. I hate to say, but I used the stock mic. If I get another base, I would like to try one of the Astatic desk mics.
