I'm using the 57.0 update as well and not having any problems, sometimes Adobe Flash messes up and doesn't work right probably causing your freeze but that is the flash program, not FF. I like Safari as well and it is the standard browser for Apple computers, even know a few still using Opera. I've been staying away from Chrome, Google knows more than enough about me. Don't let me tell you what I think of IE and Edge.

You might try uninstalling it completely and reinstalling it after a reboot, it is possible there is a glitch, malware, or virus attached to it. another is to look at the add-on's.

May we ask what was the problem? That way if anyone else runs into the same thing we know where to start the fix.

Try "Safari", I like it a lot, can download it off CNET, there is a version for Windows.

Time to run a good anti-virus, I just found 2 malicious viruses and they only effected Firefox. I had to delete Firefox completely and then a refresh to windows 10, everything is running fine now.

Edge is ok but i run Norton 360 and i like that Chrome interfaces with it. as for Google knowing stuff about you. That has already happened lol . Try Ghostery it is a tracker blocker and its free .I saw it on Fox news. Seems to help pages load up faster plus it shows what trackers it blocked

I'm using Safari (Apple's brand browser) now on my Mac's and the PC's, I've given up on Firefox after this last episode.
