Boy do I have a lot to learn LOL
Hello,
So I found myself over at cb magazine and read the article cb v exports. Now I have seen and heard the phrase export but took it as foreign made or something. So now that I know what a “export” is I am on a new quest to find my next radio. I could not find a date on their article but they said th General Lee was a good radio so to speak. So off to google I go in search of export radios

The General Lee is a good one, I have my eye on the GenLee HP40. Make sure you check out our vendors. GI Joes has a nice selection, and competitive prices. It really comes down to. What are you looking to do, and money. Pretty much personal preference.Kardar2 wrote: October 30th, 2018, 7:18 pm Hello,

A better term is "10m Conversion Radio", I haven't a clue how the word "Export" got tagged on these radios since the USA doesn't not make them, to be proper they should be called "Imports".Kardar2 wrote: October 30th, 2018, 7:18 pm Hello,

"Export" is a term applied to radios which don't meet FCC certifications, that is, a stock 4W AM/12W SSB 40 channel CB radio. An "export" model will typically have higher power, more channels/frequency coverage, and often a VFO or unlocked clarifier. The kind of radios that most CB'ers want but the FCC says "no" to. So in order to get around the illegality of it, they're sold as "export only" radios meaning not for use in the United States. It's kind of a "wink wink" thing that really fools nobody, since I'm sure even the FCC knows what it means. It's just that the FCC has such a low budged and are undermanned these days that they can't catch everyone, and I'm guessing that CB is a very low priority for them.
