Here in the 808 mini grass, most skips nowadays is late afternoon and its with Australia. Sometimes an occasional CQ from them on 38 LSB, but I usually hear them chatting on 35 LSB and sometimes 33 LSB. Once in awhile, on a Saturday, you can hear Mod Squad on Ch 6 Super bowl AM talking to the mainland (conUS). And I also know a few guys who take a 15-20 foot mast and 3 ele yagi, go down to the coast line, bolt all this to their trucks or jeeps, and shoot skip. Love their enthusiasm!!!!

Yesterday (Thanksgiving) I was doing some radio and antenna swapping around 10:30 am ct and was hearing the big hammers on 6 and guys on 38lsb North central U.S. ,East coast and gulf states from here in the midwest. Went on for an hour or more that I know of. Had to go to dinner. I couldn't seem to cq anyone, but I am working on some of my equipment issues by experimentation.

Skip conditions here in Maryland haven't let me hear Australia yet but I do hear the southern states, mainly Florida, making contacts, been seeing quite a few listed on the DX Cluster too.

one thing that always blows my mind is the east coast ALWAYS opens up with short skip on a regular basis, and the west coast is dead silent and will have no propagation at all. happens all the time and its so weird. makes me wanna move to the east coast lol. its a trip how the eastern half of the country has the band open and the western half is closed and does not open up at all.
